Grilled Pears With Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients:
4 large pears
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
4 cups vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup toasted sliced or slivered almonds
Chocolate Sauce:
3/4 cup whipping cream
5 oz semi-sweet dark chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon amaretto or brandy (optional)
Directions:
- In small heavy saucepan, bring cream to boil; remove from heat.
- Whisk in chocolate until melted. Whisk in butter.
- Whisk in amaretto or brandy if using.
- Peel, halve and core pears.
- Brush pears with lemon juice and butter.
- Grill over medium heat until heated through and marked with the grill, about 7 to 8 minutes, turning once. Let cool if desired.
- To serve, place pear half, cut side up, in each serving dish. Top
with scoop of ice cream, drizzle with chocolate sauce and sprinkle with
almonds.
- Serve immediately.
Makes 8 servings.
NOTE: Chocolate sauce can be covered and refrigerated for up to 1 week.
Bring to room temperature or warm up to pourable consistency before
use.
