This vanilla sauce is great when served with puddings, soufflés, cakes or some other desserts that are served with hot or warm sauces.
1/3 cup butter, softened at room temperature
1 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
1/3 cup boiling water
Few gratings of nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1. Cream the butter, add the sugar gradually, and stir in the egg yolks beaten slightly.
2. Add the water and cook over boiling water until the mixture thickens.
3. Add the nutmeg and vanilla.
4. Serve immediately.
