For perfectly cooked long grain white rice every time, follow package directions or our method for cooking rice:
Method 2 - Cooking Long Grain White Rice
Ingredients:
1 cup uncooked long grain white rice
1¾ to 2 cups water or some other liquid
1 teaspoon salt (optional)
1 tablespoon unsalted butter (optional)
Directions:
- Combine 1 cup long grain white rice, water or any
other liquid you prefer, 1 teaspoon salt (optional) and 1 tablespoon
butter (optional) in a 2 to 3 quart saucepan.
- Heat all ingredients to boiling point; stir; reduce
heat; cover and cook for about 15 minutes. If cooking liquid is not
absorbed, remove cover and cook 2 to 4 minutes longer.
- Fluff with fork and serve.
TIPS: Liquids other than water can be used to cook rice to add
extra flavor. You can use: chicken or beef stock, vegetable broth,
bouillon, vegetable juices, fruit juices or combination of any liquid
diluted with water.
For all precooked rice, flavored or seasoned mixes with rice or special
dishes made with rice, you should follow package directions.
Any leftover cooked rice should be cooled quickly and then covered to prevent drying out or absorption of smells and flavors from other foods.
